marrage website

Hi Guys

I have bought the domain marrage.co.uk and am playing about with the idea of creating a marrage portal using existing companies i.e. venues, bridal wear, flowers, wedding planners, gifts etc..

Now how can I get these companies to pay to use the site?
Anyone done anything like this before?

Cheers

Sorry to be a pain, but shouldn't it be marriage.co.uk if you plan to delve into the marriage world?

Or is it spelt that way on purpose?

HI Paul

Thanks for pointing that out, I am fully aware of that. I have done some research and found out that people actually spell it as marrage and not marriage and forget about the 'i'. I thought I would catch the spelling similar to marrage.com who seem to be doing very well out of it.

How do the americans spell it? do they put in the I? because that might be why the .com is doing so well.

How did you carry out this research?

Checking Google for "Marrage" provides 562,000 results, but "Marriage" has 244,000,000 results...

This tells me about 0.23% of people spelled "marriage" wrong...

I dunno, maybe i'm wrong lol...

Will you have another domain with the correct spelling pointing to the site?

Marrage!

Sorry, but thats silly!

If i was going to buy something for the most important day of my life, id probably make sure it was from a retailer who could spell the word Marriage!

What did your research consist?

Asking 10 family or friends to spell marriage in less that ten seconds with a gun to their head doesnt count!

Sorry to say but I think you've bought a lame duck. Deliberately misspelt domains can work as a business only if you own the correct spelling as well.

The site marrage.com is actually just a bunch of search engine links that will be paying marrage.com a click though for each link clicked. It's your typical "register a mis-spelt domain and bang a load of links on" site...

no worries

Hey, although you should set up a basic counter, then sell your website onto marriage.com in order to recoup your losses as you will "hopefully" have proved a small number of site traffic visits who obviosily intend to visit marriage.com.

Obviously you wont be making mega-bucks in the sale. but it mite be benefitial to both parties! You recoup your losses. they get lost site traffic.

in theory!

found this thread hilarious - think it's the funniest thread i've ever read here - probably due to being a monday afternoon but i think i'd agree with the point that you wouldn't trust your wedding plans in the hands of a company that cannot spell marriage. As someone who's trying to get a divorse (is that name taken?) i dont usually find the word marriage funny but i think your marrage idea has helped cure me of my aversion.

# To inflict damage, especially disfiguring damage, on.
# To impair the soundness, perfection, or integrity of; spoil.

Therefore a great site for discussing destruction or imperfections.

The domain cost 'next to nothing'
But... it still cost something
