Copyright-free images

Does anyone have any ideas about where you can get copyright-free images. I want to use some pictures of celebrities on my website, but don't know whether I'll be able to do this, or where to even start trying to source them.

Any advice massively appreciated.

There are image searches available on Google but you have to be careful that you can use them. Here's the text from their site...

Are there any copyright restrictions associated with the images?

The images identified by the Google Image Search service may be protected by copyrights. Although you can locate and access the images through our service, we cannot grant you any rights to use them for any purpose other than viewing them on the web. Accordingly, if you would like to use any images you have found through our service, we advise you to contact the site owner to obtain the requisite permissions.


I'd be careful about how you use the images as one thing anyone is very protective about is being percieved to endorse your site or offering.

Thanks for that - I've just spent my whole lunch hour trying to search for an image library, but don't seem to be having much luck!

In answer to your question, I want to use them to illustrate an article about star signs, like women's magazines do.

There are image libraries out there that you can subscribe to. I think that if you buy any newspaper it will have the name of the agency next to the image in smallprint if they've licensed it. Other specialists include Getty Images.

You could have a look through these, not to sure if there any celebrities on those sites, but they have everything else
