I wonder how much the script seller has made. I considered making one myself at the time but I was busy with other tasks unfortunately.

I think I must be the only one whos only just picked up on this! Gutted I've only done that as he's about to finish, would have love to have followed this story from the start.

I'm totally with James in congratulating Alex on this achievement. Selling advertising doesn't make you a genius, but going from 0 to $1million in little over 3 months while in your first year at university deserves nothing but applause.
It was never a ground breaking concept but the work and effort that Alex has obviously been putting it has paid of, and thats what's made him stand out from the crowd, his belief that he could actually make a million dollars from such a simple idea.

I'm completely jealous of him, but he deserves every penny! (or cent! )

Well done!

I have seen quite a few of these lately and considered doing it myself, but for £100+ just to get started i don't really see it worthwhile, but if people are getting thousands in fortnights then maybe i was wrong.

Oh and buy the way yeah u r mad!

Alex has sold the ads without any content. A great achievment of course but is he a genious? Maybe but maybe not. This one thing alone doesn't prove it either way.

Is he very rich and relatively famous? Yes.

I notice how he doesn't have time to come here any more!
now now, don't be jealous. The genius is in his creativity and how he used his initial sales to hire a PR Person. It doesn't have to be so technical. It's about working smart not working hard!

I was just reading back over this thread again and thought I would bump it especially for people who have never read it before.

It's a very inspirational story and interesting to read back so long after the event.

Yep. He sure did! quite a while back now! He didn't stay very long though. I think the press took his life over not long after he posted.

I have to say that I thought his idea was pants lol. It just seemed too expensive for the first few hundred people to spend $100 on one of them little squares!

I stand corrected!

Innitial approach???

How do you start your innitial approach with a website like this to gain advertisers??

I understand that once you capture the attention of the masses it will snowball, but surely you need a decent amount of advertisers at the initial set-up.....I'm just trying to get my head around why people would have advertised initially???

Amazing success story though, has it been on TV??

yes it got on tv.

originally he created a press release which was picked up upon by someone in the BBC.

It gained initial interest by him saying he wanted to get some money for university.
