Writing a CV for a professional creative job?
Hey there!
So I'm currently in the position of looking for some more real-world experience I can do around running my own business so I figured I'd need to start writing a CV. I've only ever really written a general CV targeted at getting low-paid part-time local jobs but figure I need to start branching out a bit wider. I'm going to be targeting creative jobs in the tech sector so any advice on CV writing for this area or for more specific jobs in general would be great. At the moment my highest level qualification is 12 A*-C GCSE's. Thanks! :-) |

Adam, having met you and having a rough idea of the type of work you do/want to do, I think you need a 'Portfolio' rather than a traditional CV.
Qualifications are probably much less important than relevant and practical experience of having done the work. Your Amazorize website already has a Portfolio page on it so I'd maybe create a 1 page website / blog for yourself showing all the websites/work you're most proud of, a photo of you, all your contact details and perhaps a short video clip of you saying what inspires you and why the prospective employer should hire you. You need to think outside the box in your line of work so the most innovative and eye catching the better to help you stand out from the crowd. Take a look at these links for some inspiration: http://jobmob.co.il/blog/most-creati...igner-resumes/ http://workawesome.com/your-job/25-e...resume-design/ http://mashable.com/2011/06/16/creative-resume-designs/ http://mashable.com/2011/05/20/social-media-resumes/

Write something about your skills, achievements and add your current portfolio (not more than 3-6 months old) in your CV. This increases your chances to be considered for the job.
Further, before applying for any job read job description twice and whether it's matchmaking to your skills and portfolio or not. BTW ordlancaster, your gave some good link to adam. I hope, he will learn to make his CV more attractive. |

I'll give you some professional tips : always state the dates and the time interval and the place for the work experience or education.. don't forget the reference.. try not to exceed the 1 page UNLESS you have alot of work experiences that can exceed the 1 page cv
