The Programme / Information and Advice
inspiring enterprise around the world
Thinking about starting a business is a challenge at any time and when you are young it can be of real help and support if you are able to source information and advice from a single source.
All LiveWIRE programmes have a common objective to raise awareness of the option of starting a business among young people in addition to general promotion of entrepreneurship. Information on business and how to explore starting a business is made available via outreach activity in each country. Outreach can take the form of raising awareness at careers events, giving talk to groups of young people as well as offering a well designed and relevant website. Information on business start is made available to support the process at the very beginning of exploring starting a business. Awareness is raised by drawing on the experience of existing young entrepreneurs as role models and also offering a chance for them to tell their own story about their journey of becoming business owners and managers.
In addition to access to skills and training LiveWIRE programmes can also offer a route to specialized advice and information through local mentors. Some mentors will have a general business and life experience but some will specialise within a certain field e.g. health & Safety or Human Resource etc.
All LiveWIRE programmes also offer, or signpost, to easily available and accurate local advice such as any legal requirements or government regulations. Finding out about all local requirements to keep any business operating legally can mean dealing with may different organisations or Government Departments; the local LiveWIRE programmes aim to help the young person draw their own roadmap for navigating available information.
