Category: Govt Schemes

In the current financial climate, I think anyone and everyone would welcome any opportunity to save money or even make money. I can't speak for you but I know that I definitely would.

Did you know that from the 1st of April 2010, you could receive cash for any electricity you generate using solar technology? Well you can ... woohoo :) Feel free to visit the Energy Saving Trust's website for more info. I'll to summarize below.

The clean energy cashback scheme (also known as feed-in tariffs) allows anyone who generates their own electricity through renewable sources (e.g. solar energy) to get regular payments from their energy supplier. The payments received are in addition to the savings that would be made from using the generated electricity. There'd be a minimum payment for all electricity generated by the system as well as extra payment for any electricity that is exported to the national grid.

There are two main tariffs:

  • Generation tariff - You get paid for any electricity that your system generates even if you use it in your own home
  • Export tariff - You get paid for any electricity that is exported back to the grid but not for what you use

An additional benefit of joining the scheme is that you wont have to buy as much electricity from your supplier resulting in lower electricity bills. The extent of your savings is dependent on how much electricity you use.

The sooner you join the scheme the better as the rates paid decreases each year for new entrants to the scheme.

Like I mentioned above, feel free to visit the enery saving trust's website for more info.

Seeing as we've been talking about making savings, I'm sure you'd be pleased to know that Cougar Solar has a recommend a friend scheme. If you and your friend place your orders at the same time, you both get 10% off the cost of your individual systems. If you recommend your friend after you've placed your order, you still get £100 Marks and Spencer vouchers as a thank you. You must mention this scheme at the time of your order.

Thank you for your time :)

My first blog, I always used to think it would be a little intro on Cougar Solar but alas it isnt. That would come at a later date. I bring you good news today. While browsing the net, I found some interesting reads. Some of you might have heard of them before now but it doesnt hurt to bring it up again.

Did you know that "from 1st April 2010 you could be eligible to receive cash for each unit of electricity you generate using solar technology"? Did you also know that "you can make money on the excess electricity you give back to the Grid"? Absolutely fantastic news if I say so myself. However, don't take my word for it. Feel free to get more information from the energy saving trust www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/Generate-your-own-energy/Solar-electricity accessed 12.03.2010.

Cougar Solar sells a range of solar products. The most relevant product for this blog is the solar home systems. They come in two types, the off grid system or the on grid system. The difference between both is that with the off grid systems, all appliances attached to the system are powered exclusive of the national grid. With the on grid system, you can use it in addition to electricity from the national grid.

When you sign up to sell your electricity to the national grid, there are currently two tariffs:

  • Export tariffs: You are only paid for the electricity that is exported back to the electricity network (you are not paid for any electricity you use).
  • Generation tariffs: You are paid for all of the electricity that your system has generated even if you use it in your own home.

I'm sure if you are like me, you are getting excited if not already excited from the thought of getting paid for generating your own energy. Something else that pleases me most about this is that we would be doing our own part for our environment, for our world. I know that you might say you are just one person, but imagine the impact if every person in the world did a little thing for our world.

Now is the time to act. Contact Cougar Solar immediately by writing to info @ cougarsolar.com (without the spaces) with your details and someone would call you back. In our current financial times, Cougar Solar has a recommend a friend scheme. If you and your friend place an order at the same time, you all get a 10% discount off the cost of your individual systems. If you recommend a friend after you've placed your order, just ask your friend to give us your details and once the order has been completed you'll get £100 Marks and Spencer vouchers as a thank you. You have to state the offer you are interested in at the time of your order.

Another good news from Cougar Solar is that its prices are more competitive than other retailers. It is a strictly online company, so passes on the savings from not have a retail store to you the customers. All solar home systems have extended warranties which is provided to you at no extra cost. For more info, please do not hesitate to contact Cougar Solar using the email address above. Feel free to browse its website for more info as well www.cougarsolar.com.
