My Business Idea
12:44 AM on Nov. 15, 2008
Hi All

This is my first go at explaining the idea I have.

I have an idea for a company that offers the people a wide range of services from website design to email and general computer repairs. I currently already offer website design and hosting and already have 2 clients. The aim of this company would be to offer email, storage for files and folders, backup storage and also software applications both open source and commercial.

There would be two sides to this business the first one would be offering all of our services over the Internet through our website and the second one would be through a storefront, where people from the street can simply pop into any of our branches and pick up say a hosting package or email package, similar to what we do when we want a credit card.

Users could also pick up a website package in the shops or via our online store.

My current location offers a great possibility to capitalise on being the only company offering hosting, software development, website development, backup, storage and email and since setting it up on the web means we could be selling products 24 hours a day 7 days a week without problem.

Having said that, there are companies in towns further away in locations such as Exeter and Bristol. Currently I have just come out of University with this idea in mind and have already started developing a website for the company along with the first application and pricing ideas for the website.

Although their is competition further a field, I believe that they do not offer everything, at present I have done no research into their services. There we would be the only company within the area that is offering a whole range of services to the public.

As already said this is just an initial idea, and I'm looking for some opinions, please be gentle alt.

Thanks for your feedback.

Bad business model. Think of something better

Great idea, particularly for young non-techs or older folk just made redundant and not very computer literate (hundreds of thousands of them soon to be on the market!). Not sure you need all the expense of having a shop, but might be an idea to take a concession in a computer store or similar? Good luck!
