Shell LiveWIRE in the UK has 30 years' experience of encouraging young people to start their own businesses.

The UK programme helps 16-30 year old entrepreneurs by offering the Smarter Future Programme, which supports young entrepreneurs with smart and innovative ideas that meet the energy and resource needs of a fast-growing population. The programme awards a start-up grant of £5,000 each month to one 16-30 year old entrepreneur with an idea that addresses sustainable living challenges through smart innovation.The Shell LiveWIRE Smarter Future programme consists of:

  • start-up funding of £5,000 to one monthly winner.
  • a coaching workshop with Shell senior business leaders.
  • the opportunity to be considered for the annual £25,000 Shell LiveWIRE Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Shell LiveWIRE UK also offer entrepreneurs:

  • a Discussion Forum, where they can get free help and advice from fellow Shell LiveWIRE UK members, business advisers and mentors.
  • news and reviews of interest to young entrepreneurs.
  • a 'Video Loungue', which includes interviews, top tips, webcasts and how-to guides.

The long-running Shell LiveWIRE Young Entrepreneur of the Year has helped some of the best young entrepreneurial talent in the UK to develop and grow. Previous winners have included the likes of Tom Robinson of Adaptavate, Jamie Murray-Wells of Glasses Direct, Robert Matthams of and Michael Korn from KwickScreen.
