Ranking seventh place in the world for the ease of doing business, the UK was praised by the World Bank Doing Business Report 2018 for setting the ‘frontier’ standard for depth of credit information, which empowers individuals to access credit. The country was also praised for documentary compliance in its importing practices, and publishing its entire business registry database free of charge.

The report also revealed that Singapore, which recently launched Shell LiveWIRE affiliated programme #IdeaRefinery, ranks second in the world for ease of doing business.

The second highest Shell LiveWIRE country in the rankings was Malaysia, in 24th place, followed by the Netherlands in 32nd.

The report defined ‘ease of doing business’ through eleven categories, including starting a business, accessing suitable locations and finance, and the ease of daily operations.
