Arab Youth Survey

A new survey has identified the technology sector as ranking top with aspiring young Arab entrepreneurs, with one in five surveyed naming it as the best sector in which to start a business.

The Arab Youth Survey, which collected insight into the attitudes of 3,500 Arab youth, ranked retail second, (named by 15%), with real estate and investment sharing joint third place, with 14% each. Healthcare ranked last, with only 4% naming the sector their top choice. Also noteworthy was the low performance of manufacturing, named by only 7%.

The survey findings highlight a correlation with other findings, including that 60% of those interviewed saw the digital revolution as making a positive impact on the Arab world and 10% named it as the most impactful influence of the last decade; in third place behind the rise of Daesh (22%) and the Arab Spring (19%).

Findings also noted that out of those who cited the digital revolution as the most impactful change, 26% aspired to start a business in technology, demonstrating that those who recognised the change were more likely to see it as a business opportunity.
