Welcome to Shell LiveWIRE International / Shell InventaGIOVANI recognises entrepreneurial achievement

supportiamo nuove imprese

Shell InventaGIOVANI, the Shell LiveWIRE programme operating in the Basilicata region of southern Italy, recently held a special ceremony to present diplomas to 18 young people, out of the 28 who had successfully completed its 'Bright Ideas' (BI) and 'Become A Successful Owner Manager' (BSOM) enterprise training courses during 2012. The event also showcased five young entrepreneurs who had launched their own businesses with the support of Shell InventaGIOVANI in the last 18 months, and provided a platform to launch the fourth edition of the programme for 2013-14.

The presentation was attended by Marco Brun, Country Chair of Shell Italia, and the President of Basilicata, Vito De Filippo, along with around 40 other guests from the business community, Shell, the media and academia.

Highlighting the impact that InventaGIOVANI has had on enabling the 28 young people to develop their business ideas during the year, design entrepreneur Rosanna Anelina said, "It guided me in shaping my business idea and in achieving my goals. It was also extremely helpful in developing my networks and my networking mindset.”

Some of the young people whom the programme has supported in starting their own businesses include Mara Giurni, Claudio Gallucci, and Valentina Falconieri. Mara started her wedding planning and events business, to promote Basilicata as the perfect location for any bride's dream day and even offers special eco-friendly weddings. Claudio, along with his British business partner Malcolm Gilmour, started their import-export business 'Gallucci & Gilmour', based in Britain, to export traditional wares from Basilicata and agri-food products to deliver a taste of 'Sud Italia' in the UK market.

Valentina Falconieri, whose business 'English BUS' provides touring English language tuition within Basilicata, is full of praise for the help that she had been given to start her company, saying, "I thank InventaGIOVANI for the many opportunities it has given me so far and those which will enable me to grow further in the future.”

Marco Brun, Country Chair of Shell Italia said, "InventaGIOVANI is a programme with an international scope which we have dedicated specifically to the Basilicata region. Since it started in 2010, it has attracted many youngsters from Basilicata, enabling them to access the training to develop viable business ideas in the region.

"Of the new young entrepreneurs who have decided to base their ventures in Basilicata, many have given their businesses a national and international dimension, thanks to the global network of which they become part through Shell InventaGIOVANI.”

Since its inception in 2010, Shell InventaGIOVANI has enabled 300 young people to receive 'Bright Ideas' training, of which 100 have gone on to attend the BSOM programme. The programme has enabled five new businesses to start up, with another ten entrepreneurs currently in the process of starting up.

The event received a significant amount of media coverage, including an interview with Marco Brun on the regional television news channel of the national broadcaster, 3 Channel.
